1st rule of blogging: catchy titles. I keep forgetting titles at all.

April 25th in my girl-on-the-frontier memories has almost always been that day during the week when Mother didn’t go to work and we could go shopping on the other side, since it is a holiday in Italy only. It is not that we lack of respect for the sacrifice made by the Partisan Resistance. In fact, my own family happens to have been highly involved in that. It is a day to celebrate the end of a dictatorship that would have broken the wings of my individuality, and as for a long time during my life H&M was a reactionary brand that gave you a look the typical Italian girl found too strange, I can see how a new dress for a kid is a logical celebration. Thanks to those people I was able to live accordingly to the not that typical and not that Italian self I felt was my very own.

Today I opened for fun a horoscope page (if you missed my idea about horoscopes, read here) and my tarot card reading started with: The Chariot card affirms that my alter ego is a Promoter, idol or patriot, whose superpower sets objectives or avant-garde trends to compete for attention, rank or opportunity but pays a price for right action.

I find the coincident extremely amusing.

My first intention about this post, actually, was simply to say: OK everybody, a guy I know plays in a band and their EP is free to download until midnight GMT+1 on their label’s website as a celebration for April 25th. Even though I have been thinking of writing about characters in books and identification all week. I am reading a book set in World War I (which is not a news…) and I really cannot understand or identify with the female characters. The only one I have ever identified with was Jeanne in Birdsong, and still I think a lot might be admiration for her romantic temper and strength as she is surely a woman I wish I were.

But it’s not only the women of the period, it’s women in general. It’s probably what made me feel like I had to put my ideas into a novel. But that’s another story…

The EP is in Italian, but if any of the International readers who can’t understand it wants to get it anyway it will please me much.
